WHAT WE DID

The Beckstoffer family are pioneers of the Napa Valley grape growing industry.

In 1997, Tuck Beckstoffer set out to create his own original vision of winemaking with a portfolio of varietals that scales the consumer market.

Bertrand Pellegrin was tasked in developing the name and story for a new premium wine made from grapes that that are farmed in the eastern Oakville mountains.

‘Mockingbird’ is that story, developed from a naming exploration built around Tuck’s wife, Boo. The name conjured the character of Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird, which coincidentally was one of the couple’s favorite books.

In the book, the mockingbird is loosely symbolic of innocence. It seemed a fitting name for the newness and innocence of a wine created as a gift, to a woman named Boo.
