WHAT WE DID
Original Joe’s is one of San Francisco’s most iconic dining establishments, a tradition that began in 1937 in the city’s Tenderloin District.
After a devastating fire, the restaurant was reborn in North Beach by the grandchildren of the original founders. Today the brand includes two restaurants with more to follow.
From its first opening day in 2012, the new location was wildly successful but fraught with some challenges in establishing consistency both in front of house and back-of-house.
b. on brand was engaged to collaborate with the owners to establish a tacitly understood corporate structure and governance that would ensure a cohesive work environment and ultimately, a smoothly running hospitality experience.
We provided the client with an analysis of existing leadership roles and reporting lines from top to bottom, and created detailed employee job descriptions, a corporate handbook, and brand-centric guidelines for service protocols.
Simultaneously, we began the process for identifying best practices and success factors in menus, design, and service designed to inform future enterprises.
